Puducherry, Jan. 15 -- Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamils was celebrated with gaiety and pomp in this union territory on Wednesday.
People clad in new dress thronged temples here to worship the deity on the occasion. They also prepared "sweet Pongal" and exchanged it and pleasantries to friends and relatives to mark the occasion.
Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, Chief Minister V Narayansamy, his cabinet colleagues, speaker Sivakolunthu, Lok Sabha member V Vaithilingam and leaders of different political parties among others greeted the people on the occasion.
