Oral history needs to be preserved: CM PS Tamang

Gangtok, Feb. 22 -- Chief Minister PS Tamang met Sikyong, head of the Central Tibetan administration, Dharamshala.

Stressing on preservation of traditions and culture, Tamang said : "The importance of documenting oral history to preserve culture and traditions, besides educating the younger generation can be hardly exaggerated."

The Sikyong Dr L.Sangay mentioned the Indian government's plan to construct a university building in Bodh Gaya on the model of ancient Nalanda University.

However, Sikkim already has Namgyal Institute of Tibetologyh,here.

Chief Minister PS Tamang and his legislators have passed a bill for establishment of Khangchendzonga Buddhist University, a private institution, for research and studies.
