Kochi/Alappuzha, Aug. 19 -- Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran on Monday said the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, for this year, will be conducted at Punnamada backwater in Alappuzha on August 31.

Talking to newspersons here, the Minister said usually this race, the biggest water festival in Asia, is held on the second Saturday in August every year. Earlier, it was scheduled to conduct on August 10.

However, the race was postponed following flood, he added.

Alappuzha is also set to host the country's first-ever boat racing patterned on the IPL format of cricket, the Champions Boat League (CBL), along with the Nehru Trophy Boat Race.
