Aurangabad, Oct. 21 -- The return monsoon lashed the Marathwada district for the third consecutive day on Monday, hampering the ongoing polling across the region in Marathwads, as thin polling was reported in the first two hours. The region had earlier received deficit rainfall, especially in Latur, Beed and Osmanabad districts. The districts have now reported heavy to heavy rainfall, which would be helpful in filling up irrigation projects in these districts, they said. Due to the continuous heavy rains, the standing Kharif crop, which are ready for harvesting, including Soyabean, Maiz, Bajara, Cotton and tur among others, have been badly damaged due to water logging in the fields.
