New Delhi, Jan. 14 -- The government on Tuesday appointed Michael Debabrata Patra as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Patra is currently an executive director at the RBI. He has been appointed for three years, according to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. His appointment comes nearly six months after former deputy governor Viral Acharya's pre-mature resignation. Patra looks after the monetary policy department at the central bank.

He has been a part of Monetary Policy C Committee, since it's inception.
