Mumbai, Dec. 12 -- A Maharashtra cadre IPS officer has announced to resign from the service as a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill(CAB).

Abdur Rahman, posted as special IGP in Mumbai, issued a statement saying he won't be attending office from today. The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday approved the CAB, which was passed by Lok Sabha on Monday. The IPS officer, who is posted to the State Human Rights Commission in Mumbai as Special IGP, according to sources, is facing a departmental enquiry for misconduct.
