Kannur, March 22 -- CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and former general secretary Prakash Karat on Friday said CPI(M) is trying to ensure unity among anti-BJP forces in the Lok Sabha election.

Addressing a meet-the-press organised by Kannur Press Club Mr Karat said, cooperation among regional parties is necessary to form a secular government at the Centre and CPI(M) will cooperate with regional parties taking anti-BJP stand in the Lok Sabha election.

A grand alliance is impractical in the present scenario, he opined, adding that "in every state we are trying to cooperate with regional parties to oust the NDA government at the Centre".
