Srinagar, March 26 -- Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded its first death due to coronavirus as a 65-year-old man died in a hospital here, official sources said.

''An elderly man, who was tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, passed away at Chest Disease Hospital due to cardiac arrest in the wee hours,'' official sources said.

They said that the patient had a medical history of prolonged illness with diabetes, hypertension and obesity. The patient had returned from New Delhi recently after attending ''Tablighi Jamaat'' attended by people from Indonesia and Malaysia.
