Kolkata, March 21 -- Amid heightened security, West Bengal on Thursday celebrated Holi and 'Dol-Jatra' with traditional fervour, marking the triumph of good over evil, with vivid colours, traditional songs and dance.

With the Lok Sabha poll round the corner, politicians cutting across party lines today came out on to the streets smeared in colours in their bid to reach out to the people.

Some of them were even seen taking selfies with young voters.

While the colour festival is known as 'Holi' in other parts of the country, it is popular as 'Dol-Jatra' here. Cutting across age barriers people in all parts of the state participated in the annual fest.
