Shillong, Oct. 23 -- Archbishop of Shillong Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dominic Jala was laid to rest on Wednesday outside the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah here in Meghalaya.



People from all walks of life, including Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his Council of Ministers, Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma , members of the the state assembly and Shillong Lok Sabha member Vincent Pala attended the Requiem Mass.



Former Union Minister K J Alphons also the attend the funeral service and laid a wreath on the casket containing the body of Archbishop Jala on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
