Kabul, July 27 -- Thirty-six Taliban militants joined a national peace and reconciliation process in two Afghan provinces after they surrendered before the national authorities, TOLO news reported on Monday.

In western Badghis province, 22 Taliban insurgents lead by Hekmatullah Khan laid down their arms and joined the national reconciliation process, office of provincial National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement.

The insurgents handed over a handful of weapons and fire arms to the officials of NDS, the national intelligence agency of the country.
