Dhaka, Sept. 4 -- The High Court on Tuesday sent back the bail petition of suspended Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) director Khandaker Enamul Basir in a case accusing him of accepting Tk 40 lakh as bribe.

The bench of Justice Farid Ahmed and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin sent back the petition after a hearing.

Basir sought bail from the court on Sep 1. He was arrested on July 22 and sent to jail by a Dhaka court the next day.

The alleged bribery came to light after a private TV channel ran a report accusing police's Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman of giving Tk 40 lakh to Basir for a clean chit in a corruption case.

Basir was suspended on June 10 for breach of job discipline.
