Kurigram, July 21 -- About a million people are stranded as the overall flood has situation remained unchanged for the last 12 days.

Although the water level of major rivers has fallen, the sufferings of the flood-hit people have increased because of shortage of drinking water, food, fodder, and fuel. Sanitation has also turned out to be a major problem with many people suffering from water-borne diseases.

Kurigram Civil Surgeon Dr SM Aminul Islam said 85 medical teams are working. The district administration is also distributing water purification tablets and saline.
