India, Aug. 31 -- London's strike-free streak is ending. The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) union recently announced a week-long series of walkouts affecting both the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway (DLR), beginning in the first week of September.

The strikes are in response to pay disputes, extreme shift patterns, fatigue management, and alleged breaches of prior agreements. DLR staff will strike separately over pay and working conditions. If you are commuting in or through London in the upcoming month, read on to learn about the affected lines, routes and potential alternatives.
