India, Feb. 25 -- Maharashtra is set to become a leading diving destination with the creation of India's first underwater museum and artificial reef. In a landmark initiative to boost marine tourism, the Indian Navy has transferred the decommissioned landing ship tank INS Guldar to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). This vessel will be transformed into an underwater museum and artificial reef, offering tourists a unique opportunity to explore its depths through scuba diving.
