India, March 20 -- Air India recently announced changes to its Mumbai-Melbourne service for the upcoming summer schedule, confirming that the route will be temporarily suspended from March 30 to September 13, 2025. This decision will reduce direct connectivity between India and Australia for over five months.
During the closure, passengers travelling between the two cities will need to use transit hubs, which will result in longer travel times. Possible transit points include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, and Doha. Before Air India launched its Mumbai to Melbourne service in December 2023, only Delhi offered direct flights to Melbourne, providing another route for travellers to consider.
