Srinagar, July 6 -- After an extended period of dry and scorching weather, the Kashmir Valley finally received much awaited rainfall today, offering much needed relief to both residents and farmers. Light to moderate showers were recorded in various parts of the valley, helping to ease the ongoing heatwave and reviving hopes for the region's agriculture and horticulture sectors.

The shift in weather has come as a much needed relief for both rural and urban regions of the Valley, where growing concerns over crop losses and water scarcity had been mounting. The Meteorological Department has predicted further rainfall in the coming days, along with chances of thunderstorms and a significant dip in temperatures.
