India, Jan. 16 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is turning out to be the most dominant party in the Pune Municipal Corporation Election 2026, as the counting of votes began. The initial trends reported the BJP to be leading in 90 wards, leaving their competitors far behind. The Nationalist Congress Party, which is perceived to be strong in the Pune area, is trailing with leads in 20 wards.
In one of its best shows, BJP's Ward No. 20 in the Shankar Maharaj Math area of Bibewadi performed wonderfully. BJP candidates Rajendra Shilimkar, Tanvi Divekar, and Mansi Deshpande won seats to give BJP three members in the ward. NCP was successful in securing one seat. Candidate Gaurav Ghule won.
