CHANDIGARH, Feb. 12 -- The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS) has witnessed significant participation from youths with 82,077 internship offers extended to 60,866 candidates across the states and union territories within first five months of the launch of the scheme. Launched as a pilot project on October 3 last year the PMIS aims to create internship opportunities for one crore youth in five years by partnering with India's top 500 companies.

According to official data by the ministry of Corporate Affairs as many as 28,141 candidates accepted these offers from various partner companies. Country's most populous state of Uttar Pradesh received the highest number of internship offers at 11,563, highlighting the large youth populatio...
