India, Jan. 25 -- Tensions rose in Minnesota after a U.S. Border Patrol agent shot and killed a man in Minneapolis. The incident led to large protests and political anger. Hundreds of people came out into the freezing streets. The city was already tense because of another fatal shooting that had happened weeks earlier.

Democratic leaders demanded that federal immigration officers leave Minnesota after the incident.

Family members said the man who died was Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse. They said he had taken part in protests against President Donald Trump's immigration policies.
