India, Jan. 11 -- Iran is facing its largest wave of protests in years, and the government is responding with severe force. Over 116 people have reportedly died, and more than 2,600 have been detained since the protesters began on December 28, 2025. The Ayatollah Khamenei-led regime has signalled it will escalate its crackdown, warning protesters of the death penalty.
Amid internet blackouts and communication restrictions, information from inside the country remains limited. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump suggested the US stands ready to support Iranians seeking "freedom, perhaps like never before."
