India, Jan. 22 -- India clinched a comprehensive victory against New Zealand in the first T20I of the five-match series by 48 runs to take 1-0 lead in Nagpur. Riding on an emphatic batting from Abhishek Sharma and a late surge from Rinku Singh, India posted 238/7 in 20 overs.

Abhishek has been in an incredible form and has been scoring runs consistently for the side in the shorter format. The left-handed batter struck 84 in 35 deliveries against the Blackcaps in the first encounter. Later, Rinku chipped in with an unbeaten 44 off 20.
