Srinagar, Aug. 17 -- Rising water levels in South Kashmir's Pahalgam region have begun to disrupt daily life, with flash flood-like conditions reported in the upper reaches. Continuous rainfall over the past 24 hours has pushed water levels dangerously close to the alert mark, prompting authorities to issue a 24-hour flood advisory.
Officials warn that continued rainfall may lead to flooding and cloudburst situations not just in South Kashmir, but also in Central and North Kashmir. Residents living near rivers, streams, and other vulnerable zones have been advised to shift to safer locations until the weather stabilizes.
