India, Dec. 29 -- The Congress on Monday asserted that the people of the northeast are Indians and nit Chinese and demanded justice for Tripura youth Angel Chakma, who was brutally attacked in Uttarakhand's Dehradun in a racial assault and later succumbed to his serious injuries in the hospital.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi demanded immediate arrest of the main accused, who is still absconding.

Gogoi said, "Chakma on the day of the incident had said I am an Indian and not Chinese. People of northeast are Indian and not Chinese."
