India, July 29 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs on Tuesday staged a protest in Parliament over the rising crime and growing insecurity among women in Odisha, and considering the insensitive attitude of the BJP government in the state.
The BJD MPs braved the rain to stage a protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament. They carried posters that read 'unsafe Odisha, silent government,' and shameful and painful.'
Speaking on the issue, BJD Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra said, "We staged a protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue because of the way women and children are unsafe in Odisha, the way we have seen in Bahanada and FM College Balasore, the heinous crimes that are being conducted, and the judicial inquiry.
