India, Jan. 11 -- The central government has significantly reduced the country's dependence on fertiliser imports in the year that recently concluded. In 2025, nearly 73 per cent of the country's total fertiliser requirement was met through domestic production, representing a significant milestone in achieving self-reliance, according to a statement from the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.

The government said it continues to work tirelessly to empower farmers, promote self-reliance, and ensure a reliable and uninterrupted supply of fertilisers across the country.
