The defeat of former minister Karnal Dalal in Palwal to former minister Randeep Surjewala in Kaithal helped the BJP reach the magic point from where the BJP, with the help of JJP and independents, managed to form the government again in the state.
Despite better performance of the Congress party in the 2019 assembly elections compared to 2014, the defeat of many of its veterans and that too by BJP candidates made it easier for the BJP to retain power.
