WASHINGTON, May 23 -- Amid the rising tension with Iran, the United States' Department of Defense is reportedly mulling over a US military request to send about 5,000 additional troops to the Middle East.

The US President has vowed to bring Iran's oil export to Zero through wide-ranging sanction a year after US pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal.

According to reports, the request for deployment of more troops had been made by U.S. Central Command.

The Pentagon regularly receives - and declines - requests for additional resources from U.S. combatant commands throughout the world.

It is not clear whether Pentagon will approve the request.
