Australia, Oct. 24 -- Drivers face delay on the freeway near the Melbourne suburb of Chadstone after a crash was reported earlier in the day.

A car had rammed into the back of a broken-down truck on the Monash Freeway between Huntingdale Road and Forster Road.

A 29-year-old Patterson Lakes man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police were called to the crash site at around 2:15 pm and all city-bound lanes were closed for about two hours.

VicTraffic has reported that all lanes travelling towards the city have now been reopened.

"Traffic remains heavy outbound, with delays pushing back through the Burnley Tunnel and onto the West Gate Freeway," it said.
