Nigeria, Jan. 27 -- In a chat with reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, David Beckham discussed the simple values his parents instilled in him, which he passed on to his children.

The former soccer player made his debut appearance at the WEF to accept the Crystal Award for Philanthropy, which he received for his efforts to safeguard children in need while serving as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2005.

Bryer questioned Beckham about the principles his parents instilled in him and the source of his drive to change the world.

I believe they taught me the proper values, which are the basic principles of treating everyone equally and with respect, and I tried to do the same with my kids, Beckham remarked.
