Ridesharing costs Brac varsity student's life
Dhaka, April 26 -- Yet another private university student was killed when a covered van ploughed into the motorcycle's rider in the capital's Shyamoli on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Fahmida Akhter Labanya, 21, a third year student of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of the BRAC University.
The student was headed to the university using a ride sharing service, said Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Rashid.
She was injured after being flung from the motorcycle when a covered van rammed into the vehicle from behind.The motorcyclist subsequently rushed her to the Suhrwardy Hospital in a critical state, where doctors on duty declared her dead.The covered van sped away after the incident. T...
