Srinagar, April 25 -- When I reflect on the people who shaped my early life, no one stands out more than my grandmother, Syeda Sakina Gilani. Amma, as we called her, was more than a grandmother. She was the pillar of our family, the embodiment of love, grace, and unwavering faith.

Born in 1930 in Srinagar, Amma came from a distinguished lineage. Her father, Syed Ahmad Gilani, was a successful businessman and political representative in Yarkand, Central Asia. But Amma never met him, as he passed away long before she reached adulthood.
