Jammu, April 3 -- Two people succumbed to their injuries after a road accident near the Nowyug Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, officials said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 8:40 pm on Tuesday when a Hector vehicle traveling from Jammu to Srinagar lost control due to overspeeding and crashed into a divider and a police barrier. Five people, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), sustained injuries in the crash.

The injured were initially taken to the Emergency Hospital Qazigund for treatment before being shifted to the Government Medical College Anantnag for further care.
