Dehradun, June 26 -- At least two people lost their lives and 10 others are reported missing after a bus carrying 20 passengers plunged into the Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on Tuesday. Eight people have been rescued so far, and a joint rescue operation by the police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is underway.

Preliminary reports suggest the bus was en route to Badrinath when the driver lost control while navigating an uphill stretch, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and tumble into the river. Swift response teams, along with local residents, rushed to the scene to begin rescue efforts. Some injured passengers have been transported to nearby hospitals.
