Srinagar, July 2 -- In view of the ongoing heatwave across Kashmir Valley, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday announced an extension of summer vacations for colleges till Sunday.

Speaking at an official event, the minister said the decision was taken considering the severe weather conditions. "With college vacations nearing an end, we've decided to extend them till Sunday due to the persistent heatwave," she said.

Itoo added that the government is keeping a close watch on weather developments before deciding on school reopenings. "We will review the situation for schools soon based on the latest weather forecast," she said.
