Srinagar, July 1 -- As Jammu and Kashmir battles an intense heatwave this year, Srinagar has recorded its hottest June since 1978 - making it the second hottest June since temperature records began in 1892.
According to independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif, Srinagar's average maximum temperature in June 2025 stood at 31.0degC, while the mean minimum was 18.2degC. This resulted in an overall monthly average of 24.6degC.
The hottest June on record for Srinagar remains 1978, with an average temperature of 25.0degC, driven by a higher mean maximum of 32.9degC, although the mean minimum that year was lower at 17.1degC.
