Awantipora, June 14 -- Several persons sustained injuries, some of them serious, in a road accident that took place at Barsoo Awantipora on the Srinagar-Anantnag highway (NH-44) on Saturday.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a Taveera vehicle (bearing registration number JK01Q-5159) collided head-on with a fruit-laden truck on the busy highway. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the Taveera badly mangled and resulting in multiple injuries to its occupants. The fruit-laden truck turned turtle due to collision.
