Srinagar, April 14 -- A 45-year-old non-local labourer tragically drowned in the river Jhelum at Patalbagh, Pampore in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday.
Officials identified the deceased as Nami Sahani, son of Sarjo Sahani, hailing from Bihar. He was working as a sand labourer in the area when the incident occurred.
Following the mishap, a police team led by SHO Pampore promptly reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. The body was later retrieved from the river and shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore for medico-legal procedures.
Police have taken cognisance of the case and initiated further investigation.
