Rajouri, April 16 -- The historic Mughal Road, linking Poonch with Kashmir Valley via Shopian, was officially reopened for vehicular movement on Monday after remaining closed for four months due to heavy snowfall.

Though snow clearance work had been completed by April 10, fresh snowfall caused delays in reopening the route. On the first day of restored traffic, 335 vehicles were allowed to ply - 225 from Poonch to Shopian and 110 in the reverse direction.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote, Farooq Khan, confirmed that traffic movement remained smooth throughout the day within the allowed timing window.
