Srinagar, May 14 -- Microsoft is set to lay off around 6,000 employees worldwide-approximately 3% of its global workforce-as part of a cost-cutting initiative, according to reports from U.S. media.
The company confirmed organizational changes on Tuesday, saying it aims to streamline operations and capitalize on emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. In its home state of Washington alone, 1,985 job cuts have been confirmed through a state labor filing.
"We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
