Srinagar, April 11 -- Tech giant Google has reportedly laid off hundreds of employees from its Platforms and Devices unit - the division responsible for Android software, Pixel smartphones, and the Chrome browser.

According to a report by The Information, the layoffs were carried out on Thursday and affect teams working across key Google products. The report, citing a source with direct knowledge, stated that the decision impacts employees involved in core development for Android, Pixel hardware, and Chrome.

The move is seen as part of Google's broader restructuring efforts within its parent company, Alphabet, amid ongoing cost-cutting measures and strategic shifts in product focus.
