ANANTNAG, Feb. 20 -- Food Safety Department Anantnag conducted an extensive market inspection across various locations in the district Anantnag to assess the adherence of Food Business Operators (FBOs), particularly roadside vendors, to the provisions of Schedule-IV of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006.

During the inspection, several violations of food safety standards were identified, particularly poor hygiene and sanitation practices. Vendors were found using improper waste disposal systems, utilizing printed paper as food wrapping material, and employing non-food-grade plastic materials for packaging. These practices pose a significant risk to consumer health and safety.
