Rajouri, May 29 -- At least five people were injured in a road accident near Bakhar village on the Jammu-Poonch highway in Rajouri district on Thursday.

Officials said the accident involved a Maruti Ignis (JK12C-0860) en route from Jammu to Poonch, which collided with a tipper (JK11E-7913). All five occupants of the Ignis sustained injuries and were initially rushed to SDH Sunderbani. They were later referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced medical care.

The injured have been identified as Mohammad Aslam, Akhtar Malik, Masood Malik, and Sheema Akhtar-all residents of Poonch, and Abdul Qayoom, a resident of Surankot.

Police have registered the case and initiated further proceedings.
