KUPWARA, May 26 -- Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kupwara and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A Police team of Police Post Bazar at a checkpoint established at Geerhatchi, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing naka party tried to flee from the spot and was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Faisal Ahmad Sheikh son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Kupwara. During the search, heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession and was subsequently arrested. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 149/2025 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Kupwara and investigations have been initiated.
