SHOPIAN, May 24 -- District Level Narco Coordination (NCORD) meeting was held today at the mini-secretariat here, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta.

On the occasion, department wise action taken reports were assessed, and directions were issued to strengthen the fight against drug abuse.

DC emphasized the critical role of departments, including police, drug control, revenue and others in combating the rising menace of drug abuse, and directed the departments to take more stringent measures against the menace.

He also stressed on the importance of keeping close vigil on poppy cultivation areas and taking strict action against the cultivators besides conducting poppy destruction drives.
