SRINAGAR, July 2 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the government is committed to safeguarding the interests of people whose livelihood depends on the Dal lake.

He also ensured the sustainable preservation of this ecological treasure.

He was interacting with a deputation of Dal dwellers. The delegation included representatives of houseboat and shikara owners.

The meeting was held to address long-standing grievances and to discuss sustainable livelihood solutions for communities dependent on Dal Lake.

Representatives of the Houseboat owners association, Shikara owners union, and Dal dwellers' community participated in the meeting and put forth their concerns and issues.
