ANANTNAG, April 16 -- Police in Anantnag has secured the first-ever conviction under the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), marking a historic moment in the implementation of India's revised criminal justice system.

The case pertains to FIR No. 69/2025 registered at Police Station Anantnag under Sections 303(2) and 238 of BNS, based on a written complaint lodged by Ab. Rasheed Alie son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Hawora Munshi Pora. The complainant had reported the theft of his load carrier auto (Regd. No. JK18B-3925) from Mehandi Kadal, Anantnag, on April 1, 2025.
