JAMMU, March 8 -- Cancer cases are increasing by three percent annually in Jammu and Kashmir.

The UT has reported 50551 cases of different cancers from 2018-2024. Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo today informed the House that as per the Population-Based Cancer Registry, 50551 cases in the Kashmir Division and 13912 cases in the Jammu Division were registered between 2018 and 2024. She said that a 2 percent to 3 percent case increase is also being witnessed annually.

She said the health infrastructure for cancer detection and treatment is being upgraded in Jammu and Kashmir.
