SRINAGAR, April 2 -- A fire broke out on Tuesday morning in Hatchmargi village of Handwara, North Kashmir, damaging at least two residential houses.

According to locals, the fire started in the house of Jahangir Ahmad Badhana and quickly spread to a neighboring house.

The Indian Army's 2 RAJPUT unit from the Haphruda camp immediately alerted the Fire & Emergency Services team at Chowkibal. Fire tenders, with assistance from the Army and locals, managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing any loss of life.

In a swift humanitarian response, the Army camp at Hafruda provided food, ration, blankets, and other essential supplies to the affected families.
