New Delhi, Nov. 26 -- Built in 1927 in local red sandstone as a royal address for Maharaj Dhiraj Sir Ajit Singh of Marwar-Jodhpur, Ajit Bhawan, part of the hospitality company, The Ajit Group, stands as India's first private residence converted into a heritage hotel.

In the early 1980's, under the tutelage of Rani Usha Devi and Maharaj Swaroop Singh, a section of the palace was converted into a 12-key exclusive retreat. At a time when the concept of heritage hotels was virtually unfamiliar in India, this move was both pioneering and commercially strategic. Their legacy, vision, and commitment to excellence have been the guiding principles at The Ajit Group.
